Thank God “24″ is back

As I got ready to watch the season premiere of, “24,” last night, I laughed at how excited I was. Without a doubt, “24,”is the best thing I’ve ever seen on TV. “Seinfeld,” comes close but it’s a different animal. Not only is the acting outstanding, the story keeps me enthralled.

At this point it’s safe to say that David Palmer and Michelle Almeda are gone for good. My gut tells me that Tony will somehow make it. It’s sad to see such great characters go but hey, that’s “24.”
A new character that blew me away is the president’s wife. The role she plays is extrememly complex. She appears to have some psychotic disorder. In one scene she has her face all made up and then plunges her head into the sink filled with water and says, “Let’s start over.” Awesome. There is so much subtext going on with this character it’s so fun to watch.

Keifer Sutherland is obviosly having the time of his life playing Jack Bauer. Not one to ever adhere to rules, this season he doesn’t have to answer to anyone. Already we’ve seen him off one character without the hesitation we’ve seen before. Last night’s winning line was to the kid, “The only reason you’re conscious is because I don’t feel like carrying you.”
